Flying your own Plane to Cat Island

Aerial view of Island HoppInn

If you have the ability to fly yourself, you can enjoy the most scenic, beautiful flight over the breathtaking Bahamas Islands and the brilliant colors of the Atlantic Ocean!

Your first landing in and out of the US and Bahamas must be at an 'Airport of Entry' (AOE). They will have Customs and Immigration, which you must clear, and the necessary paper work to be completed.

BEFORE you depart the Bahamas, you are required to talk to US Customs over the telephone at your destination AOE. You must have Coast Guard approved life vests for each person on board. Remember higher altitudes get better radio reception.

There is no fuel available on Cat Island. The identifier for New Bight Airport (AOE) is MYCB, where the runway is 5,000 feet paved. The MYCB airport/customs telephone number is 242-342-2016.

Cat Island Gas Station
Local Gas Station

We recommend renting a car and explore all the wonders, settlements, and friendly people of Cat Island.

The vehicles rent for about $75 for 24 hours, and gasoline costs about $3.50 per gallon. Make sure you fill up before any journey because sometimes the gas stations run out of gas. Two gas stations recently opened on the island - now there is three!

We can arrange a rental car to be waiting for you when you arrive at the New Bight Airport. If interested in a rental, please inquire when making suite reservations.

In the Bahamas they drive on the left - this takes a little getting used to! Also in the Bahamas, it is customary to waive (by the driver putting your hand up, which we call 'hailing' or 'salute') to people or vehicles you drive past. This is a very warm and friendly island!
